As part of my conversion to 3.6, I had planned to do a Transmission Oil Cooler addition as I evaluated my needs this summer and my budget recovered. However due to a leaking mainshaft seal on my 915, it looks like I might as well do it now while the case is being removed for the repair. I'm going to update the bellhousing for a later one with the provision for replacing the seal without opening the case.
Thanks to some previous posts I've found the external cooling pump/lines and fittings that I want to use. However, I wasn't sure how the internal spray bar/return locations are setup. Are these just simply holes drilled and tapped at the right location and the return lines connected or are there more complex setups/layouts? Regards, Rick

Rick,
There were at least three different configurations offered by the factory, none of which, AFIK, used drilled or tapped spray fittings: 1) RS 2.7 early street version with pump and spraybay without cooler ... illustrated in detail in Vol. IV of the factory service manual 2) RSR configuration with external cooler and internal spraybar 3) Late 915 production -- 3.2 Carrera street ROW with finned tubing cooler There are a few add-on systems illustrateed in Bruce Anderson's Porsche 911 Performance Handbook that are externally plumbed and spray through holes in the case. However, little details are given other than the photos of the finished systems.
