Can I reuse rear axle nut?
 

My 85 Carrera has the castilated nuts for the rear axles. I bought replacement (non-castilated) nuts from our host, but they are not the right size. Since the old nuts are castilated and use a cotter pin, is there any reason I can't just re-use the old ones??

you can reuse the old one

Replace the cotter pin.

bend it over correctly.
