Carpet dye
I have a 1970 911 Targa and want to dye the carpets. Original color would be charcoal I think, can a charcoal dye be applied? If so what is best, Rit Dye or a spray can?

I assume that you're going from a lighter color to a darker color, is this correct? Prior to deciding to bite the bullet and just replace all the carpet in my '85, I used the same SEM Color Coat spraypaint that I used on my leather and vinyl. The manufacturer says it can be used on carpeting as well. Spray on, and brush in and around in order to avoid the tufts from sticking together and clumping. The added bonus is that the vinyl edging gets the same coloration as the carpet.

FWIW I've used the SEM paint with success on carpet however it was an old Volvo.

i believe the carpets are not a solid color, at least mine isn't...a few white threads in there etc. so be sure you like a solid color.
