Where to get a 915 transmittion rebuilt
Hi,
Have a 1986 / 911 that I had a clutch put a couple of months ago. It came back with an issue popping out of third. Need it rebuilt. Do you know who is good and reasonable in my area. Live in Ma. but would ship it if necessary. Was ready to send in to Motor Meister but after reading all the negative postings changed my mind. Help. Scott |
search for Gary Fairbanks. He's in CT.
from another thread... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/603967-trans-rebuild-shops.html Gary Fairbanks 203-866-3489 Old school here. No emails just leave a message on the old answering machine. He will call back. |
+1 on Gary Fairbanks, known and used him completely for 30 years
I use 203 866 2466 Bruce |
Can't go wrong with Mark Nadler At Exotech in Plaistow, NH. (603) 382-3599. 75 miles from you. Honest, experienced & very, very reasonable prices.

If the car wasn't popping out of gear prior to the new clutch, I don't see why it should be popping out now. |
+1 on playing with the coupler first. My 930 started popping out of first halfway between FL and IA driving home after I bought it. A very small adjustment to the coupler and it hasn't happened in 1.5 years.

How about a 915 wanting to pop out of first. Could this also be a coupler adjustment?

I just had Gary rebuild my 915 gear box. Picked it up on Monday, shifts great!
