installing front rt turn signal ass

Having a problem with the new turn signal assembly. I have it hooked up and everything works except the turn signal when the light is on. The old assembly had 3 wires and the new assembly had 2 wires. It looked like the green and brown wires were connected on the old ass. So, I connected them and everything worked but, the turn signal with the lights on . The turn sinal didn't work at all without the green wire.

Any help.
Thanks

Gary

The assembly I purchased has only 2 wires and the 1 I'm replacing it with has 3 wires

Why don't you two swap units? That way each car gets the correct part!

Elementary my dear Watson!

Shooda read closer!

Sorry, thought it was two different Pelicans! My bad. Try matching up the two wires of the same color and leave the third wire loose. If that fails, try to trace the wires on each unit and see where they are connected on the light unit. The third wire could be a ground or it could be the wire that triggers the turn signal element.

Brown is a ground....

Just leaving one wire lose for now. The old ass. wasn't any good. The car is a row from Germany and I ordered the row part. The US version must be different. Anyway everything works except the marker light while the headlights are on. The turn signal and hazard both work. The assembly must have been changed when the car was imported to this country.

Thanks for the replies and I'll look at replacing the assembly with the same type that I removed.

Jobob are you still in Nevada?

Gary
