another thanks to pelican

after i finished my front wheel bearings this sunday i decided i needed to find something else to do the car.
i always wondered whey my wipers sat on the drivers side, then i remember seeing the tech article here and put it in the back of my mind because the wipers limited vision enough to irritate me where they were.
easy job and a no brainer, i also sanded and repainted my wiper arms since they were off.
vision is less distracted by the wipers now and i'm a happy camper.
thanks for the information

I did the same thing a couple years ago. Get DIY job. It really clears the drivers view of the road down the hood. You will have a lot of fun with those parking attendants who try and slip a paper under the windshield wiper. Some say it impedes the way the wipers wisk the water off the windshield but I haven't noticed any measurable difference, except in my driving perception.

Ever looked at a REALLY early 911 guys? Guess where the wipers used to park. Warren, do you remember which year the switch was made? My memory fades here...I'm thinking '65 or '66?

According to Peter Morgan, wipers were chrome and parked on the right side irrespective of market. In August 1967 ('68 model?) they switched to black wipers parked on the left side of left-hand drive cars.

Well, Paul ... I don't remember too much detail about the few 911L's I have seen, but the '67 911S below had the chrome wipers parked on the right ... and the '69's were over on the left , so ...

Hey..'68 is okay with me! All I know for sure is that my '66 912 had wipers that parked on the right. And my '69 912 had wipers parking on the left. Thanks for the memory jog, guys... (edit)...even scanned by Warren, isn't that blue on the cover car beautiful? Here I go with a fading memory again. But I think that was the first year, and color, that clear coat was offered...'67. WOW! Still blows me away...I remember an "S" offered in that color, in Portland Oregon, back then...the price was close to an unbelievable (at that time) $10,000! But somebody bought it. I've often wondered who...

i used semi-gloss krylon with the appropriate primer.
they're going to come back off and get the bead blast treatment though because i screwed up prepping them and i want to start with bare metal so they'll look new.
