original Konis on a 73T?

How can I tell if the suspension on my 73 911T was original Konis or if it was Boge? I already ordered shocks so I'm hoping they are original Konis.

The car appears to have the S suspension option - a magnet won't stick to the front calipers so I believe they are alloy. It's also got the chrome S trim on the rocker panels. The PO said the car had Konis. It's got 78k miles on it and the shocks could definitely be 30 years old.

Are original Konis a given on an S suspension? What does the S suspension include?

Also, I ordered 101 Projects. Does the book cover shock replacement?

Also also, I need a torque wrench for the car. Where should I get one?

Thanks for any answers.

Don't know about shocks but I just (yesterday) ordered a torque wrench from toolwarehouse.com. Only 51 bucks and they have already sent it, AND that email ups tracking link. GOD I love that! Actually being able to track new stuff on it's destination. Should arrive tomorrow too. Someone please post the torque setting for those little nylock nuts on sump screen please!

I am sure there are alot of experts in this group regarding this topic. If I recall correctly:

Orange/red/yellow - koni
green - bilstein
black-boge

Blacks can be replaced with anything, the others are specific. Apparently, there is a fine thread vs course thread "identity" on the shock piston top. Don't know which is which.

Yep- 1 of the 101 projects is replacing shocks.

I think the 'S' suspension includes sway bars. It seems that not all cars with the 'S' package have the 'S' suspension though- at least one I'm looking at at the moment doesn't.

I remember you were hunting for a car for a while Bill- is this the one you ended up with? Did you post pics/ details?

Bill,

I don't know if you have confirmed the identity of the strut's mfr yet, but, the only positive way (without taking off the dust cover and looking at the strut cap) is to clean the paint and look for part numbers and mfr name stamped in the vicinity of the knuckle -- on the strut body ... because many struts have been repainted over the past 30 years.

My '73S had Boge shocks as standard equipment. Years ago I replaced the inserts with Konis and put Konis on the rear also. The way I remember it, the Konis were optional on the 911T and S. The E had that unusual front set up. I don't remember what shocks were on the rear.
