Re-Assemble CIS while IN the car?????

That must only be for genius/god/contortionist mechanics! How could that ever get done? Well, lets just say I'm having some issues reassembling while Out of the car. I'll get it done, but it's still gonna take awhile.. carry on...

it is tricky to do it with the motor in the car, especially with the 78 model with all its pipes and tubing. Usually involves leaving the driver side intake tubes attached and worming the box into place with the passenger side set attached. However it takes practice and always run the risk of leaving some important bits loose or out of place.
Best you are doing it out of the car

I wouldn't even try assembling it on the car.
Pulled and installled mine in my '78 4 times since getting the car last summer.
I can pull it in less than an hour now I'm almost embarassed to say! (why so often, can't you fix it? my wife asks...)

So much easier to work on it on the bench.

Once, engine out of car.
3 times with partial engine drop.
Always completely assembled. (Stupid plastic airboxes, stainless is so much better now....)
Final score: 2 plastic cracked airboxes to 1 solid stainless one. :)
