Alternative Oil Line Supplier
My '71 project needs oil lines from the tank and cross-over tube to connect to the oil thermostat. The new engine is a 3.0 needing an external cooler. It's been mounted in the front passenger wheel well.
Since this is a narrow-body car, the lines must route up, forward and down to go up and over the wheel. There is no clearance to the side. Elephant has them. I'd like to compare with the competition, however I haven't been able to find one on the net. Any Pelican suggestions? Thanks ever so much.

I'm pretty sure those lines are unique to Elephant. I tried doing it with all flex hose, but there wasn't enough clearance around the oil tank and bumper brace.
You could probably do it with smaller diameter (less than 7/8's) hose, but then you've got less flow. The formed lines around the tank are a perfect fit. Highly recommended. Good luck. Joe

![]() Our host has the factory lines you most likely need. However, if you need something custom like this....................... ![]() then I can help you. I have been making up custom Metric oil lines for many years. Heres an example for front cooler fitment on a concours winning 914-6 GT..... ![]() One issue to overcome is that your 71 Oil Tank and original hose assys use a M22 thread, while 72 & later 911s use a M30 thread. Keeping your original oil tank will require adapters or custom made fittings. A 73 or later tank will give you the M30 fittings to match the much more common late thermostat & lines. If any questions, please send email only, no PMs. It also allows sending photos back & forth. Len at autosportengineering dot com

These are the lines in question:
![]() Key is the formed hard line section that pass up the front of the tank. Tire clearance in this area is tight. The formed hard lines are tucked in much tighter than can be achieved with hoses. This is not a factory part. It is a product developed and manufactured by Elephant Racing. There are no similar competing products. The lines are carried by Pelican. If you are still using the 71 trans, you will also want our Universal Crossover Pipe. The 71 'pusher' clutch will not clear the factory line that passes beneath the bell housing. The Universal Crossover pipe will.

![]() Its been a while since this thread was started but thought it should be updated, as now there is an alternative source for some of the hoses & lines you spoke about. Here is what I have done for PK with a SC motor and stock SC exhaust in his 71 911....... ![]() Available for all air cooled 911 models with early or late exhaust. Please email me if you have questions. Len
