when do you know to do maintence on dizzy

well cruising PP for parts and it suggests new carp, rotor, points every 10-12K miles...

is that being overly protective? or is this standard maintence?
I've run my car 30K without doing anything to the dizzy...

what about the fule filter too???

and valves? (I am doing valves soon...I've just put it off for so long)

30K on these parts is way too long...

I think I remember that the service interval for my cap and rotor are 12K miles. In consider that to be absolute maximum. I believe that everyone with a cap and rotor that is 10K old or more would feel a performance improvement by renewing those parts. I have never replaced a cap and rotor without feeling a performance improvement.
