Best replacement camber plate/monoball?
My right front wheel ('83SC) won't adjust to less than about a degree and a half of negative camber, which is fine for the track but is eventually going to wear out an expensive tire on the street. I've been waiting many months for a set of ERP monoballs--supposedly the best--but I've given up on them.
What is are the next-best camber plate/monoball aftermarket replacement? Are there any of them that will give me the added degree of adjustment room I need, or am I going to have to grind away some metal from the fenderwell even if I do go to replacement camber plates? Stephan

Your best bet would be to contact either Smart Racing Products, The Racer's Group, or KMR (Kelly Moss Racing). They all will have exactly what your need, for various applications. None of them are cheap, but they all sell top-shelf products. Also, you should not get excessive tire wear with -1.5 up front.

I went with the setup sold by Performance or formally Automotion. There is much more room withing the fenderwall opening for moving the top of the shock in either direction. I believe Weltmeister is the manufactuer. Expensive ($350 per set). Quality and fit was good.

My 78SC is the same. I found this out after taking it to Steve at Johnson Alignment in Torrance. He has performed alignments and corner balances for several of pelican heads. He said this it is not uncommon for the older spindles to "sag" and prohibit camber to the factory secs without any danger of failure. Like you, my SC cannot be set less than 1 1/2 degress of negative camber. It has been this way for the past 2 years. Steve told me that many people pay alot of money to get this. I have not had any excessive inner tire wear over thousands of miles. I am enjoying the extra camber.
Just my .02
