More on Euro pre-mufflers...

I finally got around to installing the Euro-Pre Muffler on my car. For those new to my endeavors here's the synopsis:

3.2 w/ GHL single in, dual out and bypass pipe. I found an old style Euro-PM and had an O2 bung welded in. I was curious about the power debate and the bypass pipe vs/ Euro-PM.

Sound-
The car is now a little quieter. The Euro-PM and GHL work together to give an aggressive sound that's not ear splitting. The bypass pipe and GHL were a bit "raw" for me. I definately like the current setup better.

Power-
There seems to be a bit more low end torque now, but the seat-o-the-pants meter is unsure about top end or overall. Damned if I can really tell the difference...

Overall I'm happy. The reduction in noise was well worth the minor amount of $$ I spent.

Here's the before.

Sure looks nice, I'll say that. Maybe you can drive around with 3 wheels for a while just to show it off!

Dan, how does this pre-muffler compare to the ss models from Fab Speed? I bought one and installed it in place of my bypass pipe and immediately liked the new sound (Bursch muffler).

The pre-muffler is from a '79 Euro SC (my first SC part). I had an O2 bung welded in, removed all the rust, sanded to bare metal, and then painted with aluminized manifold paint from Eastwood. Grand total : $90

I'd have to assume that the Fabspeed SS pre-muffler is based on the same idea; a free flowing pipe with some sound removing baffles (just a bit more $$$).
