Exclamation Oil pressure dropping at idle.

I have a 84 Carrera and recently began having an issue where the oil pressure is dropping and the light comes on when I am not on the gas. Any one have any ideas? It is not leaking at all and the oil is new and at the right level.

We were working on the brakes today since all 4 are sticking (focusing on the booster and rod adjustment). Turns out I need a new booster but then this problem started.

All advice is appreciated.

What viscosity oil is in the engine? What is the lowest oil pressure reading at idle? Does it go uo when you raise the RPMs?
You did check the oil level on the dipstick with the engine at normal temp, on level ground, and while idling, right?

Valvoline racing 20w-50. It is dropping to just about nothing without hitting the throttle. Yes it goes up when the rpms go up. Yes on the checking of the oil. I did it with my buddy who restores old 356s and early 911s.

I did replace the rubber seal on the oil cap today also if that could be affecting it.

What's your pressure at 3000 rpm, at operating temp?

+1 and I'll add-

Did the pressure read fine up until the recent oil change?

How many miles on the engine?

I would check the pressure with a different gauge to confirm that the dash one and /or the actual sender is working correctly.

Does this mean that it sounds like an electrical issue to you?

Looks like the oil pressure sensor causes all of those to happen at once

At least that sounds better than an INTERNAL engine problem. Please post the results once you get things sorted out. It may help the next guy who has a similar issue.

I might have the same issue.

Just finishing off my 1976 911S with a rebuilt 2.7L.
Ran it today, but oil pressure was very low, needle not even moving, and NO brake light's or rear tail light's on.......

let me know what you come up with, Ill try to chase down the issue myself, if I found out I'll let you know..

I am new to 911's. Trying to sort the Zeniths on my 72 Targa Flatnose which I am putting back together, I have a flashing red light that suddenly appeared without the engine running. Noticed yesterday the oil pressure at zero goes up to 2 bar when revved. Brake lights not yet fitted.
What is the flashing red light-its not the Hazard warning lights.

Found the oil pressure sender is the culprit. Stupid iPad keeps auto correcting to sensor for some reason. Will be fixing that when we do the clutch later this year.
