Rare no cost fix

Friend asked me to check out why his 78 sc was not charging the battery, No charge light when the key was turned on. Bulb was good, he had a noise suppressor installed between the external voltage regulator and the voltage regulator plug. The external regulator has three prongs and one of the prongs was pushed up inside the regulator. Ground off the rivets to open the regulator, pushed the prong out (internal black wire) bent out the tab on the prong to keep it from being pushed back in, discarded the noise suppressor, new pop rivets, hooked it up and it charges like it should. luck played a part because i removed the voltage regulator and looked up inside the plug in, otherwise would never have seen the pushed in prong. I'd rather be lucky than good or In my case luck is the only option
