CIS sensor plate

Hello all! I'm a relatively new SC owner and frequent lurker! It's now my turn to pose a question to the brain trust. I recently suffered the famed exploding airbox (I know I know) any way this was the final straw as I also have a broken headstud and the (still unexploded) clutch. So I have the parts (mit der pop-off valve) and while preparing to remove the engine I noticed that the sensor plate doesn't seem to have any spring tension. I previously thought that it did in both directions. Can a back fire ruin this as well? I may be just paranoid but pushing it up does'nt seem do operate anything. Broken frequency valve or plunger? I sure hope it's not fuel distributer time as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Chris

I didn't have any resistance when pushing up on my sensor plate. I did further investigation and found that my plunger was seized up into my fuel distributor. Which explained why I was running super rich (the fuel distributor was running full open) I sent mine off to Brian Bodart with RarlyL8 to be rebuilt.

With no fuel in the FD it just flops around. run the pump and see if there is slight resistance.

Thanks!!I bet it is the lack of fuel pressure. I'll find out soon enough.
