Targa test at Night (Nervously Hitting the Vegas Strip)

This is really the first time I'd taken the car on the road for any distance since August 2010, driving it from my house in Paradise to the Vegas Strip (12 miles roundtrip). The test drive was uneventful except for a couple of things I noticed. It was also uncomfortable, mostly because I am not very familiar with Euro type "plunger" clutch pedals but I have driven stick shift since I was fourteen so I will get better with this. Please see below. I would appreciate any comments or advice.

Issues: Unfamiliarity w/ the car itself
oil drips in the garage (two drops in two days)
Speedo needle is dragging (most likely inaccurate)
Car was in storage for almost two years
Low whining sound in fifth gear

Gauge readings: Oil pressure is pegged high; druck press is 2.5; temperature read slightly above mid-range.

Gauge lighting seems dim but steady (no flicker or sudden brightness)

Question is, are the speedo needle drag and the whining sound in fifth gear issues from the long storage or should I get it looked into?

If the car was in storage the first thing would be to change the fluids brake, oil, fuel etc. new air filter would also be good. The only way to measure your oil level is on a level surface in idle at normal operating temperatures. When running at about 3000 rpm your "druck press" oil pressure should be around 3.5 to 4. As to the dash lights that is normal. The bulbs dim with age but can be easily replaced by pulling the gauges and refitting new bulbs through the back of the gauge

Hi Remigio, You said Paradise? Is that somewhere close to Chico? Any independent Porsche shops around that area? Thanks

Uhh... you're a bit more than 12 miles from the Vegas strip Pal.. haha

If you're looking for a shop in Chico, I've heard good things about 02 motor sports and Oasis, both in Redding.

Someone once mentioned good things to me about Guido's in Chico but I have zero experience with them, or anyone really as I turn my own wrenches.

Thanks funny.

1986, that's the 915 transmission and not the G50, right?

Changing all your fluids includes the transmission fluid (Gear Oil). You might want to do a search on the Swepco 201 many people including myself rave about.
