Help with engine numbers
I know this is a common topic, but all posts I have checked haven't given me an answer.
Just got a mixed up 1987 911. Numbers by the fan are *64 1050 78* and 930725, with casting number 930-101-104-5R Can I get some help identifying the year/size of the engine? Thanks. I'm back after a 4 year hiatus from aircooled 911s. Back to doing all the mods I did on the 81... or well, I never figured I'd be back, but here I am, eating my words. SmileWavy |
The number between the two * is the engine serial number.
Can you check it again to see if the 3rd digit is not a lette by any chancer? 64105078. Do you have a VIN? |
Could the 3rd digit be a "J"?

But one would not want to lead a suggestion... |
So maybe he can post a pic? All I was suggesting was what I found in the Red Book.

Thanks to all.
There had to be a letter after the "64" -- will have to wait until tomorrow to check. The VIN is WPO AB 0 91 3 H S 1 2 1812 |

Pic of the VIN and the serial # and the engine type#....
Every VIN with '091' in the middle per the Red Book has a letter after it..... |
