steering wheel on ebay

is this a 930S wheel? Ad says it was an option on a 1984. Just wondering what they meant by works 1.

There seems to be confusion as to what is a "real" 930S steering wheel.
The original 930S wheel was also fitted to the 968 ClubSport and on some 964 RS Clubsports. The wheel that is widely available now is probably from the same manufacturer, but is not a factory item. The wheels from the factory had sewed leather, not a patch and glue job. They had either an embossed logo on the leather (964-968) or an enamel crest (930S).
see pic from a factory wheel:

BTW The very first 930S had a different wheel from the same manufacturer:

To finish, the wheel on Ebay has some UGLY creases on the leather.

Werkes 1 was the Porsche special wishes department (Sonderwunch sp?) that saw a lot of work in the '80s. Don't know if it still exists or not. I have a writeup on it in an '80s road and track that I could scan in if anyone is interested.
They did the original slope nose conversions on the 930s, as well as custom interiors, Max Moritz conversions on SCs etc. Basically if you had the money and wanted it done, they could do it for you.

Love to the read the article if its not too much trouble to scan. I never heard about that division. Sort of like an AMG but made to order?

Michael,
I got the wheel from a pile of factory pieces my mechanic brought home from Stuttgart once. It was some part that was "lost" or "forgotten" and ended up in the lot. The model sometimes (very rarely) surfaces on Ebay.
If you like it, I have another one I could sell, but it is not so nice. Has the colored crest. mail me PM.

Hi PWM,
The Cup car came from the factory in 1988 with the alloy Matter roll cage, and even though it is no longer legal for racing, it is for the club meetings I do. I have the right conections to have an exact replica made out of steel, and FIA homologated, but I don't have the need for now.
the '76 has a BEAUTIFUL Heigo brand 8-point cage that I modified by taking out the part above the windshield, but keeping the door diagonals. I put it in for the safety and the looks, but I didn't want to go full cage, which would have necessitated harnesses.
Here's a pic of the rear attachments of the heigo in the '76

GeorgeK
PS the other cars don't have cages

Didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings, but AFAIK, the original leather cover is made of one piece, whereas the on for sale has a separate piece of leather for the spokes with a clear line at the base of the spokes where the 2 leather pieces are joined by glue.
Of course the factory wheel costs way more, making the one sold here a very good alternative...
