964 rear bumper update on a 1982 911SC

Hello,

I just finished a 964 update to my 911sc and I have question regarding the rear bumper.

I noticed that their is a gap under the tail lights between the new bumper. There is a seal between bumper and rear fender and a seal between bumpoer and rear reflector but I cannot find a part to fill in the gap between the tail lights and bumper. I called our host and they said there used to be a kit but its no longer available.

So does anybody have any advice? What have others used to fill that gap? Is there something that I could put there that would go under the tail light on one side then go between the reflector and bumper then end under the other tail light?

Any ideas that will look professional are appreciated.

Jay

pinch welting or fender welt ... any vw supplier should carry it ... pretty close to what is between the fender and the bumper ...

Welt seems to narrow to fill the void. The gap is about 1/2".

Here is a pic of the update

I used some foam tape. You can get it at Home Depot where the hvac stuff is. It's about 1/2 thick, 1/2" wide and sticky on one side. when it's installed it looks just like a rubber moulding.

You should also run the 964 Smiley strip in the front. makes the squareness of the bumper look much better.

on the pinch welt .. the original post question was at the tail light ... not at the front ..

At the front most use a 964 smile ... and at the rear the fender to bumper uses a factory seal that looks just like fender welt ..

I'm not looking for a fix for the fender to number but for the tail light to bumper.

Hi,

If you are using 964 tail lights on a 964 rear bumper you can use the early 964 tail light seals. Up to 1990 the tail lights seal wraps around the whole tail light. On my 79sc I had to cut the piece that runs across the top of the tail light to make it fit, but it seals the gap nicely. PN is 96463142000 / 96463142100. Unfortunately they cost $44.00 each from our host - ouch!!

The front of the car looks great, but we keep talking about the rear and there's no picture of that!

Does anyone have any info for converting the rear lights/bumper to 964/965?
