'88 Carrera: Turn key = nothing!
In preparation for a Sunday drive in the mountains, I washed, polished and pampered my '88 cab. I also zip tied some wires hanging from the ignition area; nothing too tight but just cleaned it up a bit. Never started it after, and covered for the night. This morning I went to turn the key and nothing happened! As if no electric is reaching the dash, no movement on any gauge, stereo, but the clock and interior lights are working. Anyone have any suggestion of what might have gone wrong? Thanks

Cut the zips....check the connections. Look at the starter motor and see if anything is hanging off the solenoid.

Yep- that was the answer. Even though the zips were not tight, it was enough to just loosen the main plug that supplies juice to the dash. Just snugged it up and problem solved. Thanks!

If you still want to clean it up.....crimp the connector for a tighter fit and make sure there is some slack between the zip and the ignition switch.
