Cruise control question

I have a 1982 911SC Euro car. I have gathered all the components to install cruise control. Where the vacuum canister bracket appears to be mounted in other similar models I can not find any mounting point. It is as if since the car did not come with the option they did not put an attachment point. I thought the attachment point would be on all models weather the option was requested or not? Am I missing something. I do not want to drill holes in the fire wall if I do not have to. Any help would be appreciated. This site has been a real help so far. I have had this car two years and am constantly lurking. Thanks, Tom

Here's a pic of where the two bolts are on my '85. You'll see them on the far left beneath the servo, bolted to the metal attachment plate that's welded to the bottom bulkhead. Even with various pieces of hardware removed, and others swung out of the way, long slender fingers and U-joint wrists are helpful for working the wrench...

Thank you. I am afraid you have answered the question and I do not like the answer. There is no bracket as pictured in my car. I am afraid I may have to fab something and that is a tricky spot. Thanks for the Pic though. Tom

Here's a stupid question for ya Tom... is it possible that the factory may have welded it onto the RIGHT HAND side??? I mean, you did say it was a Euro car, perhaps the default for prepping it was to place it on the right for the potentiality of it being sold to the British market??? Longshot for sure, but take a peek, eh? Also, most body/fender guys can bang out a piece of steel like that in 2.36 seconds. If you've got the bracket, you can drill & tap a piece of light steel sheet in short order, and the body guy with a spot welder can zap it in place as long as the other stuff's out of the way. Either that, or go to Harbor Freight and grab a cheap right angle drill and pop in two holes yourself. That area is under the car, not into the passenger compartment, so what's 2 more holes with bolts sticking through?

Thanks, I will check the other side. I am more inclined to go the drill and bolt route. Thanks, Tom
