 Need a little more help with my 79 911 air conditiong issue So i have a replacement condenser now since mine was quite HOLY and was just looking at a drier. Went to polarbearinc and they only have drier options for two compressors. I have neither. I have a seiko seiki 170psv5.  What is the deal with this compressor. Planning on going to r134. |

 hmm. ok, so what is the yellow plug for. I mean what would go there? and my drier has a 2nd valve on the opposite side at the top. but nothing goes in there either.  I wonder if I have the complete wrong drier on?  Is the drier used to charge the system? or evacuate it or something, is that what the extra valves are for? |

 ok, so we checked to make sure the systemm held vacuum. It did.  We went ahead and added r134 with oil and got to 250 and 40 as far as pressure.  I took it for a spin and it got down to 58 degrees.  We were thinking we'd give it a week and possible add more.  58 was fine for me!  Lifted up the car to check lines just n case and bam had a bright green leak coming out of the ac hose on passenger side just in front of the rear wheel.  Thinking I can use earl fitting and take care of that.  Then I get to go evacuate system and recharge again. |

 need to change oil from what i understand: 1. you need to purge the oil in the compressor and use new oil for 134 2. new air dryer 3. all new o-rings to all fittings that use them that are compatible with 134. |

 Also...be advised..old style hoses can leak right through the side walls of the hose!! This may be the reason so many people have to recharge every year or more often. Bob |

 wwest:  Point taken re: pressure spikes -> leaking past o-rings; often overlooked.  But in this case I'm pretty sure leak is at hose, not fitting. Quote:

 Doesn't a 79 still have the flare type fittings  ?  I have been told that before you change over to R134, you need to purge ALL hoses/lines and the compressor. Put in new R134 oil, replace the drier and then evacuate and charge the system. Good luck and let us know how it works out as my 79SC needs the same..winter project. |
