Question about front swaybar bushings - grease or not

I saw a post the other day regarding rubber bushings (both a-arms and swaybars) and I read in this particular post that the sway bar bushings go in dry. Basically, the thread stated that torsion bars rely on some torsion effect and then slip (rather than break). This was a discussion regarding some rubber bushings that get glued (like the rubber rears). I just replaced my swaybar bushings about a week ago and I used white lithium grease based on the Pelican tech article.

Should I have used grease or should I take them off and clean them.

As far as my a-arm bushings, I used Elephant Racing rubber bushings andI followed the video and directions so only soap was used.

Thanks......Vern

I'll answer based purely on intuition. It seems like the front sway bar bushings (at least the through the body type, with which I have experience) have little function but to keep the sway bar centered, with a little bit of vibration isolation from the body. They don't need to provide any resistance. I would think grease here would be fine. The bushings that I got from Pelican, a hard plastic weltmeister bushing, weren't going to be twisting with the bar in any case, AND they squeaked quite a bit.

So my 2 cents is that I can't see how grease would hurt there.
