Correct Vinyl for Door Panels

I'm in the process of restoring the interior of a 1970 911E. The vinyl that is currently covering the door panels is a smooth vinyl. I don't know if it's original or not. When I called a vendor about purchasing new vinyl for the doors, they said that the correct vinyl is the basket weave vinyl. I have a friend with a 1970 911T that has the basket weave that we believe is original. Can anyone tell me which is correct for my E?

Regards

Chris

Chris,

Basket weave.
The smooth panneling is from a 2.4 onwards.

Dennis.
