Talking IMS Friday

I'm tickled to near death. Going to Indy tomorrow to watch Conti and Grand Am race at the speedway. Been going there since 1959 but this is a first. Hate to miss the Porsche car corral but mine isn't running right now. Cool part is going with my son and grandson. I used to go with my Dad and uncles. Gotta keep the traditions alive. Get those lil ones to a race......somewhere.
Did I mention I'm tickled?

Am driving 6 hours to be there! I love going to Indy. I'll be there again for the MotoGP later this year..

IMS Conti and Grand Am

I admit that I'm a newbie to Conti and Grand Am racing but WOW. Survived the rains Friday at IMS and saw some incredible racing. Wet and dry. Walked thru the Porsche corral to the track and stood at the edge of the back road course 10 feet away from the cars. Very impressive. They are louder than Indy cars and Nascar put together. The only cars louder are Top Fuel and maybe the old Novi roadsters.

Never thought I'd see 72 cars on the speedway racing at the same time.
I usually attend USAC and NHRA racing only, as I'm getting older and my attention span is about the same as my 7 yr. old grandson. I gotta admit that I'll be seeing more of the Continental and Grand Am races. It really revitalized my interest.

Thanks to the racers that did a great job. AND thanks to the speedway's yellow shirts who were helpful and fun to talk to. They made my grandson's day.

I was there and had my car in the car corral. The car corral turnout was pretty good too. My impression was the same as yours. I'll most definetely be going back next year. Much more entertaining than watching trashcars go around in a circle. The start of the Grand Am race was amazing. Rooster tails behind every car from the sopping wet track. I don't know how any of them saw where they were going. And watching 72 cars on the track at one time was amazing!
