rear condenser aux fans

Looking to hear from owners that have added electric aux fans to the rear AC condenser and whether they had positive or no improvements at all with cooler vent temps...no offense to anyone but not looking for theories why it won't work just real world results..Thanks in advance for replies

You would need to find a fan that did 1500 liters/second for it to work. I can't really get any lower vent temps without freezing up, so for me it would be useless to install one. So that would be one vote for "no"

The engine fan doesn't do 1500 liters of air per second at idle. The AC is intended to keep the interior cool even when stopped in traffic.

If you're not pulling more than 1500 you're obstructing normal engine cooling at driving speeds. So at idle you need a fan capable of doing better than about 2700-3500 CMF if you decided to disregard the blockage you're installing with the fans themselves.

So my experience in working on a 79 recently that had two 10" fans we removed them and corrected a service issue with the A/C, the car ran cooler, and the A/C was much cooler as well. ymmv.

Worked so well for me that when the front condensor blower began to fail, NOISE, I was able to disconnect it with no effects. My 2 fans only "shadow" less than half of the rear lid condensor plus I do not believe they provide enough "drag" to the airflow in "generator" mode to be a significant detriment.

Just drove to to/from central MT in 95F weather and the only problem I had was evaporator freeze up over the mountain passes. I suspect that was due to the low atmospheric pressure operating in conjunction with the thermostatic switch spring.

I have the capillary tube inserted into the evaporator just to the point of reaching 34F but not beyond, at least at sea level.

If your evaporator tends to freeze up that your have a maladjusted capillary sensing tube. And yes, it would be senseless to install additional condensor cooling capability if you already have that much cooling capacity even on a HOT day mostly idling alone.

Living up here above 7k feet I've never seen an icing issue that was not charge related. Altitude should have nothing to do with this. Even if the thinner air was causing you to ice up due to air volume your still dealing with an incorrect charge.
