Paddle shifters? We don't need no stinkin' paddle shifters!
A friend just sent this link to me. Many of y'all have probably seen this, but it's a cool video nonetheless.
Ride along in a Porsche 917 - YouTube The moment with the 914 at about 8:30 had me a little nervous for a second. |
Wow. The sound, the savagery. I smiled all the way through the video.

What a great video..It lead me to others that were great. Years ago, I raced FF and got passed by a Formula B car on the back straight leading on to the oval at the old Phoenix road course. He threw a rock as he passed me, like I was standing still, that dented the top of my helmet as I ducked my head. Gosh, I love the sound and fury of a race engine on song in anger !!

Whoa.......that was ree...dick....you....luss!!!
Every 911, 914 it approached ( we know they weren't approaching the 917) looked kind of like a a bug on the highway 'hey closer...closer...closer and you're outta there!!!' |
Awesome video.
A little food for thought... I clocked him at a mid 1:32 on one lap. A couple weeks ago a guy in a stock street 997 GT3 RS 4.0 on hoosiers was out there, did a 1:33.1 with traffic. Progress... |
It took me a while to take my eyes off the track and watch Canepa shift (or at least take his right hand off the steering wheel and punch the clutch). Really fast.

Sound? Where's the sound? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat.gif
I turned my speakers on, sound is good. |
Nice,..thanks!

I swear I heard my lowly T MFI in there somewhere. That was awesome.
I am surprised how much travel his right leg moves. |
How long will that motor go between rebuilds driven in a similar fashion?
|
Ok last question - was that a turbo? I didn't think I heard one.
|
Great clip. Thanks. You'd get a very strong left arm driving that car on that track.

I heard once the 917s shifted from 4th directly to 1st at the end of the old 6 km Mulsanne Straight...anyone know if this is true?
What is the top speed of Mr Canepa at Laguna Seca? |
