Who did you buy it from?

cstreit 05-21-2002 12:56 PM

Aha! I would have sold you mine for some unknown outrageous price, as I had John Starkey sign it two years ago after he blew my doors off in an RSR...

Rare though? Only 2000 copies? My @$$ !

i bought the one Kurt V had on sale...although the post office has left a notice of a package...but never the package...I have been waiting since friday....

this one is a random one I found...thought those who were intersted might want to give it a go on ebay...

Now that a new edition has been printed, those aren't rare. My local Barnes and Noble had one on the shelf earlier this week. Classic Motorbooks also listed the new 4th edition the last time that I checked.

EWA also carries a copy for less money:

Prior to the latest edition, they were getting kind of rare, I don't think that they are rare any longer though. The big deal seems to be the price increase. The trade-off is that the latest copy has individual chassis records for the RS's in addition to the RSR's in the last edition. So there are an extra 100+ pages.

BTW - It's a great book. My youngest daughter (23 months old) has been kind of fixated on my 911 lately. She took one look at the cover of Starkey's book while it was sitting next to my bed and immediately said "Porsche! Porsche!" Now she likes to look at all the different colored cars, especially the pink IROC RSR. Can you believe that I ended up having to read a couple of pages to her from Erwin Kramer's recollections last night for her bedtime!

Sure it can. Even with rear seatbelts, I can only fit one girl's car-seat in the 911 at a time. So one of the girls has to be left behind.

I'm now guaranteed to be in the dog-house with one of them all the time! I can only imagine what it will be like when they reach puberty! ;)

Don't get me wrong - having 2 daughters is great, it's the little things that get me!

John, I've got 2 daughters as well. One is 3 years from a driver's license. I have nightmares of her and her little ratpack friends pulling a 'Ferris Bueller' on me (it's one of her favorite movies!). -- Curt

Good work gentlemen... I've got my neices (6 and 3) to tell a Porsche from others... I'm working on getting the 18 month old to say "Porsche!"

Where can I read more on-line about the RS, RSR and IROC cars?

Thanks
Mark

Oh yeah --- the book. Forgive us, we got distracted.

Have you done a search on this site? I'm sure that there is almost more information here then anywhere else.

You can also checkout Rennlist.com and do a search there.

Incidentally, I know that in the past there are references on posts here to sites that have loads of pictures of early 911's racing. Curt has shared a lot of them with us.

Do you have any daughters? Oh never mind...
