Metal spraying
Fellow Pelicans -
Have any of you had an experience with Metal (Zinc) Spraying? As I understand the technology, pure zinc is sprayed on body panels. It is typically sprayed right after media blasting, and it is used to fill in small holes, medium holes, and pockmarks resulting from rust. Attached is a link to a company providing the service. It's definitely cheaper than buying repair panels and paying freight charges. I interested any opinions on the Metal Spraying technology (especially if you've had this done to your car). Chrysler used it on the roofline of the Concord in the mid 90s to make the rear roofline finish because the use of lead was passe.
The finish and strength of the roof seam was deco only. Bruce |

So is gasoline. And bondo. And silver solder. And many other things we use on our cars.

I had it done to repair a Triumph TR6 fender - it seems to be holding up fine. It will take different type of finishing work however since you're shaping sprayed metal.
I'd expect this would vary a lot based on the skill of the person doing it. |
