Where to find A/C hose ends for my 993 3.6 conversion?
 

Hey guys,

Am doing the A/C on the car and am using a 993 compressor on my 3.6 engine.

Problem is that it has the two single fittings that bolt into the compressor for the low and high side lines and I would like to get some new ones.

Anyone have any idea where I can get the "hose ends" that bolt onto the A/C compressor like this?

I'd get a couple used lines off a 993 and have hoses made.
Once you get the fittings the rubber hose is no big deal

We tried that except that they were running 10 and 12 lines. We are running 8 & 10 lines (stock sized) and need smaller fittings than what were on the 993's in the beginning.

Any idea where to get some new fittings for this? Believe that they are called "compressor block fittings" and the compressor is a Denso 10PA15C but where to get them is the question.

Wish someone made a plate that would eliminate these fittings so you could just screw on normal A/C line fittings to the compressor.

Maybe remove that piece that bolts to the compressor and tig weld some fittings on?

Thats what we are looking at doing right now but sure would be nice to find ones already made up.

Ran into your dilema a while back on my 3.6 conversion. There is a company called Doc's Blocks that carries all sort of AC stuff including compressor block fittings. I ordered them online back then, but I just went to their site, and the home page no longer allows you to search for parts. Don't know why, but they have a phone contact #. You can also download their PDF catalog from the home page. The blocks you need are on page four of the catalog on the right side. PN's are AA1874 and AA1875 and are correct for a DENSO 10PA15C compressor, which is the type you have. Here is the link:

I have them on my compressor . You just bolt them on, then use standard #8 and #10 screw on o-ring fittings on your hose ends.

Yes I did but it was not real easy.

Just past halfway down the page are the fittings. Called them on Monday and she at first told me that they stopped making them. I asked her to check stock and they did have some left over so bought them immediately before they vanished. Price was $15 and $20 each, so well worth it.

They should be on the way here to me now.

WOW, I just today, this afternoon, got the same compressor from my trusty local p-car used parts source to go in my 3.6 conversion (same place I got the engine), I'm calling first thing Wed am, hope they have another pair of those things stashed in the back somewhere!

Joe, looks like you went through Stark, I ran into their info them trying find where DocsBlocks were located...

Fingers crossed... I put an adapter with a trinary switch on the 3.2 compressor after R134a conversion a few years back, both to protect system from hi/lo and maybe now use the temp controlled switch part for a rear condenser fan, and this DocsBlocks solution allows a direct trade over to the 10DA... the Patrick block & replacement hoses option would not...

She sounded like she had a few on the shelf but the first comment was "we stopped making those" and until I asked her to check stock was not feeling good about it, so push a bit and make sure.

There are some other sources but these guys are good and would be my first try.

The guy helping me with my system worked at Patrick for a long time and this is a better setup than what they have. We also have the switches in the system to protect it.

Yay, success! Snagged a pair, and BTW for any other converters out there, she told me as of 01 Aug 2012, computer showed 93 AA1874 & 97 AA1875 - well now one less - of each :)
Less than $20 per. Very helpful and efficient folks, and will ship any way you like.

Jae Lee at Mirage did my conversion and used mostly PM parts for mechanicals.
Always surprising how infrequently folks or shops add a protection switch after a R134a conversion, especially if one hasn't changed out all one's old hoses yet :)
