my brother replaced his the right timing chain housing on his 2.7. It started, idled well then took it for a drive. Within 5 minutes we could hear oil leaking inside the heat exchanger. All the smoke is coming from the heat exchangers. There is no smoke coming out from the exhaust though. The car was running poorly too. We checked if there were any leaks that is dripping on the heat exchangers but there were none. We could hear it as if oil is dripping inside those exchangers.

I would first check the seals between the camshaft/camtower and the right timing chain housing. Oil is likely leaking from there onto the upper side of the heater box (heat exchanger); there is a chance it is leaking to the inside through one of the joints between the outer housing and the exhaust pipes. If it is leaking to the inside you'll be getting a lot of smoke to the interior of the car if you turn on the heat. Is this the case? If you replaced the chain housing you had to break and replace the timing chain and/or remove/reinstall the right camshaft chain sprocket plus disturb a lot of other components right timing chain system. When you reassembled did you retime the engine? If not, this could be the cause of the poor running plus you could be doing damage if valves and pistons are not properly retimed. Good luck, Jim
