Speedo sensor replacement found product underneat
Hello,
I'm busy with the replacement of my speedo sensor 911SC Euro, under the old sensor I found a kind of white product, someone who knows what this is ? Must I replace it or leave it like it is? Another question, can you by the spring that holds the sensor in the transmission box or should I made one myself, mine is broke when I did the removal o the old sensor, was rusty. Thanks, Peter |
Is the "white stuff" the corrision that would have resulted from trapped water against the case?
Make your own spring of anything you can find. |
conduction/heat sink paste?

I don't think that it is heat sink paste, so it is better to remove it.Can I use copper paste on the side of the new sensor, to protect against water that can come in ?

The sensor is a magnet encased in plastic. It reads teeth on a steel gear in the differential which is then converted to speed on the speedometer. Neither corrosion nor water affect the performance of the sensor. And it doesn't need paste -- just stick it in the hole and hold it there.
