Speedo sensor replacement found product underneat

Hello,

I'm busy with the replacement of my speedo sensor 911SC Euro, under the old sensor I found a kind of white product, someone who knows what this is ? Must I replace it or leave it like it is?

Another question, can you by the spring that holds the sensor in the transmission box or should I made one myself, mine is broke when I did the removal o the old sensor, was rusty.

Thanks, Peter

Is the "white stuff" the corrision that would have resulted from trapped water against the case?

Make your own spring of anything you can find.

conduction/heat sink paste?

I don't think that it is heat sink paste, so it is better to remove it.Can I use copper paste on the side of the new sensor, to protect against water that can come in ?

The sensor is a magnet encased in plastic. It reads teeth on a steel gear in the differential which is then converted to speed on the speedometer. Neither corrosion nor water affect the performance of the sensor. And it doesn't need paste -- just stick it in the hole and hold it there.
