14pin Connector HELPPPP

Here I am again with the 14pin connector problem. A few weeks ago Cary and Hladun1 sent me a reading of the pin locations. I placed the pins as advertised. After a few weeks I got the engine back up and ready to start the engine. All I get is a click sound, at first I thought I had a tired battery, but after I noticed the alt charging needle pegged out high with the key on Iam thinking that the connector is still not correctly wired. The Porsche garage tells me there is a number of diagrams for this connector for 1980SC depending on the accesories. I am in deep do do and need some help from the guys that have lived this nightmare.

Don't know if this will help but this is pic of a 14 pin on my '77S. The pins are mostly the same on a '81SC but the colors are not exact because of your model or the added equipment you may have.

One note is Pin# 12 on an '81 is suppose to be Black/Purple and goes to the "TD terminal on the Elec. Ign. Mod. I don't have this one on mine. Remember this is FROM the engine, but the chasis side should have corresponding colors.

Also pay particular attention to Pin # 1, 2 Yellows. That's the starter/cold start. And Pin # 11 which may be black on your car which is GENERATOR D+. Also PIN# 14 which is RED and for the Generator B+. AND....Pin# 10 which is the fuel pump relay,WUR, AAV, Thermo Valve. You have to have at least these pins correct for start-up.

All others are auxilillary items such as sensors and switches for oil temp, pressure, back-up lites and switch and blower stuff.

How did the connections get messed up ?? Did you have to re-wire the connector ?? Generally, its just re-plug and play.

Did you put the yellow wire on the wrong side on the starter solenoid ?

As for the 14 pin. The wires really aren't long enough the change their locations. Especially that big #1 yellow. Side to side maybe.

You did see the little numbers molded into the connector case ?

Well I have determined that the 14pin connection is correct thanks ....I have also determined that the connectors at the starter were correct. With the key in start position there is a buzzing sound from under the heater blower. This is evdent with the key in the start position. Is this a cold start valve? With the key in the on position there is no buzzing but the alt. needle is off scale high.
