WOW! What a collection of P-cars. You don't see this back east. And to think I was just in San Diego last weekend hanging out with a few at Kurt Starnes place.

Thanks for posting those Wayne. I was there on Saturday and it was pretty incredible. I do hope this becomes a yearly event.

So many incredible cars. The yellowbird that ran today was so powerful it was unbelieveable. He was running away from the GT3 cars on the straights like they were standing still.
As usual Wayne was really stingy with the camera, I wish he would take more pictures :-) My favorite car there is a no brainer: http://www.pelicanparts.com/swapmeet_pics/Pelicanswap02/Pic170.jpg I am sure Wayne has taken more pictures of my cars than I have. My second favorite has to be http://www.pelicanparts.com/swapmeet_pics/Pelicanswap02/Pic268.jpg rumor has it that there is actually car in that picture, but I haven't found it yet. Had a great time, thanks to everyone who worked so hard to put it on. Last edited by sammyg2; 05-19-2002 at 05:44 PM.. |

Was a blast. Couldn't find wayne. Bought to book so he could autograph it, and never found him. I don't think 'wayne' actually exists. Everytime I go to some PP thing, he ain't there. he's always just coming back in a few minutes.
Okay, I already forgot the name of the guy in the 73 targa with updated look who's a grad student in Engineering in SD I hung out with on Sat. I'm really bad with names, I don't remember your name or handle here! Remind me! Ugh. I'm getting old.

Gosh, I don't even remember these cars. Seriously, it takes a LOOONG time to take so many pictures. I was in the booth maybe a total of 40 minutes all day (not including setting up). It is difficult to find me, you gotta go where the action is!
The guy with the young guy is a joke!!! That's Richard from Performance Products!!! ![]() -Wayne

That red/yellow SC with Pelican on the windshield did really well on Sunday, running around 2:05 second laps. That was with a stock 3.0 liter except for exhaust. It still has the CIS on it.
I did see one incident when the Rennsport GT3 car tried to take him out, the Rennsport car was definitely in the wrong, but the SC held his line and the Rennsport car ended up kicking up some dirt and blew the corner ;-). Serves him right. He should know better than to pass in a tight corner when the other car has the line. |

Where can I find the results of the race?
After watching (and filming) a lot of the practice, I'm curious to know! There were a couple of GT3s that were f'ing awesome....

Wow! I guess I got the brass ring. Not only did I meet Wayne, but Tom, Darren and Dave Darling, all at the booth. Bought the 101 Projects book for when I get that next 911.
Definatley got six cylinder fever there. Came home and tried to put the 2 ltr four on the lawn mower. Now, if I dry sumped it , it might work........ ![]() |

Yellowbird VS GT3R
The yellowbird may have been fast on the straights with the Turbo, but in the end it is he who finishes first!!
Sorry, had to pipe in because the GT3R who was consistently the fastest, who qualified first and won the sprint race was our guy, Brent Martini in car #81. No one ever caught him.... Laura Hergesheimer MotorSports Lake Forest |

I was there and if it wasn't for my wife I would have had the 86 black turbo that was in the tent sitting in my garage today. Hope to make the event next year.

Yep, that yellowbird was extremely fast in the straights and on the bank and was making up at least a second or two on the other cars every time, but he seemed to give most of it back at turn 3 and 4.
I couldn't tell if he was being out-braked, out-handled, or out-drove, but the real race cars were beating him in the corners. They announced before the race that he only had a fuel cell large enough to run for 40 minutes, and since no re-fueling was allowed they knew he would not run the entire race. He sure was fast though .....:-0 |
