Hello

Be prepared for flushing 20+ Liters.

Hydrolock is one danger the other is the fuel inside the exhaust can make sounds a bomb squad will fear. Ever had seen a sausage looking like you had it to long in the microwave ?

I know a guy who had a 2,0 S carb and liked to shoot long flames with the throtle full ignition off and on methode.

He shoot off his heatexchangers with the studs pulling out the heads.

The car burned down on the higway and the Firebrigade need two hours to bring down the fire.

I checked the space shuttle information for any launches on friday,& there were none, So I guess the cloud covering south Florida originated from the back end of my porsche. I remember back in the sixties,It was cool to be rolling down the road at about 50 miles per hour & turn off the ignition for about 30 seconds, then turn it back on. THE BACK FIRE WAS EQUAL TO THE TIME THE IGNITION IS OFF. One sunny afternoon I tried to get a super loud backfire. I left the entire exaust system from my parents new Olds in the middle of the road. That was a tough one to explain when I got home!! those were the days< someone else paying for my mistakes. When My kids became teenagers I got paid back in spades for my teenage driving deeds. So I understand about unused fuel in the exaust system. I do need to repaint the garage floor, two circles under the exaust pipes. I drove the car for about 5mi with fire extinguisher in hand until the extra fuel in the exaust system burned away Craig http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/jump.gif

Hello

Once a costumer called as his 2,2 S wouldn´t start as the starter is dwead and Ishould pick up the car with the trailer. Out there with all the stuff to make a jumpstart and a new starter to change it and save the hassle. It was winter and damn cold and i exceptet one dead battery witch drowned the other. When I arrived he said he tried to jumpstart the car with the battery from his Van but the starter only made click. He then tryed to push on the car but it didn´t move so he called the nearest Dealer and they decided to two the car on and well you could see several double black stropes around his road when he was towed from the dealer mechanic, some stripes where 10-20 m long. So they gave up and the ADAC guy suposed the starter was blocked and he estimmatet the usuall Porsche price ( Well the starter was around 1000$ outright ).I had the feeling that didn´t sound like the staer is blocked and tried to turn the engine on the pulley over. Well no move forward but wait it moved backward and several secound later fuel was rininsing down the exhaust tip.

Porsche are very very tough.

Well we saved on the starter and I think it is still in the car and he still drives trough the winters doesn´t matter ice or snow.

I hear Wayne's "101 Projects" is gonna be a hot seller, but I think Roland really needs to write a book.

Hi Guys. Since I last reported successfully geting the engine running again, I have noticed a problem. The oil level guage stays in the red all the time. When I changed oil & filter.10 Quarts of oil marked half way on the dipstick @ 180 degrees on level ground. I assume that some oil remained in the oil cooler lines to the trombone, thats why it only took 10 quarts. The guage always pegged before. I have read the stories about over filling. Could I have screwed up the sender in the oil tank. oil pressure is at 30 pounds @ 1500RPM. Temp. is between 7:30 & 8 0'clock. What do you guys think? Thanks,Craig

Roland Kunz 08-07-2001 12:35 PM

Hello

Well the levels will stay the same doesn´t matter if you drained oil or fuel out off the engine and tank.

maybe the fuel in theoiltank washed the senderunit ?

Just drain some 2 liters and try if it will drop to the middle.

Roland, The problem that I am having is that the needle on the oil level guage does not rise above the red mark, but the level on the stick is half way between add & full. the previous posts that I have read said not to fiil above this mark on the stick. I will try another sending unit if the needle doesn't change after draining a quart or two. Thanks, Craig

Just making sure, but you are checking this when the car is at operating temp, on level ground, and at idle for 30sec+, right?

Roland Kunz 08-08-2001 07:36 AM

Hello

My error up/overfill is white.

As long your level on the dipstick is in the normal range you are in the safe zone.

A theory could be that the swimmerbowl could be no filled with fuel and will swimm deeper.

But if the instrument even not move while driving something on the sender is shoot.

Grüsse
