New guy!

Hey everyone! Just wanted to introduce myself. I got my first porsche a little over a week ago, 79' SC with 130k miles, and absolutely LOVE it! I grew up on TC and sequential transmissions (which are cool, don't get me wrong) and have driven a lot of cars, but I have to say this is one of my favorites by far. Just ripped out the A/C and rebuilt CVs. Next up will be to drop this thing to spec and get it aligned, previous owner had it sitting really high. Sorry for the lack of pics, but here is a cell phone pic taken on detail day. I'll get some more up soon!

Excellent choice of model year!

The 78 and 79 models make good candidates for carbs, because of their larger intake ports. Just though I would plant the seed.

Congratulations! I acquired a 79 SC Targa last month. They are a blast! Its definitely too high. Mine was lowered to Euro ride height by the previous owner, and I'm quite happy with it down there. Be wary of rough roads - its much bumpier than any other car I've driven.

Side question - do you need to baby it a bit on the shift from first to second? It took me a little while to get used to it, but it is still harder to do smoothly than any other shifts.

Very nice! Add a 930s steering wheel and some H4's & you'll like her even more!

Not in California, they don't. Still have to smog them there.

Yes! You are not alone. That was the first thing I noticed. Every shift after 2nd is smooth as butter though.
