Need to find a Porsche Tech in Northern VA
Please help!
I am moving to the Northern VA/ DC area very soon. I am looking for suggestions for where to take my 1980 911SC for servicing in that area. I am having a tough time finding anyone on the internet. Thanks, Javier |

I second the recommendation for the Dorkiphus site. They even have a dedicated forum for this:
Professional Help Post local shops and businesses you trust and recommend.

Welcome to the area. It is a great place to drive a Porsche. There are also lots of good places to service it. I have been very happy with Intersport for mine. The Porsche club there also has a lot to offer.

Welcome! There are a number of really great places out here. With NoVA traffic being what it is, you probably want to consider one close to your new home. Once you know that, ask on Dorkiphus for recommendations.

Talk to Stan at RPM in Lorton. He rebuilt my top end and am going strong after 20k miles. He even helped me identify a problem after I had already moved away and the car was no longer under his warranty.

Sweet!
I did not expect such great replies. Thank you!
I contacted a guy named Taylor working for German Auto Group. He came well referred through the "Dork..." web-site (love the name). Does anyone their 2 cents to share about him? I am going to be in the area around mid June for a recon of the area, getting housing. I plan on sending my car ahead so that it is there for my use during that trip. If everything works out well, I will also get sometime to get acquainted with the roads. I am going to miss So. AZ, long stretches of road, no traffic, and sunshine 11 of the 12 months in the year! +1 on Stan Fox, RPM Racing, in Lorton. He's honest, fair rates, and has been a real help (this is my first Porsche).

RPM has a good rep. Intersport is great and IMA motorsports is great as well. (those are all no va) (in MD we have some others) AT speed in MD is good and I swear by Sarli Motorsports in Millersville MD.

Like others have said, Taylor is the only guy I let touch my car, a 1982 SC. Not only is he a great mechanic who loves these cars as much as we do, he is a genuinely good guy. Only drawback is that he is so much in demand that he is always busy. I highly recommend him.

When I lived back in NoVa, I used nobody but Ray and Geoff at ASG. Taylor got his start with them before going off on his own. If I still lived back there, ASG or AtSpeed would be the only shops that would work on my cars.

My two cents
I have had good experiences with my two 911's at ASG. Terrible experience with RPM. No joke.

I took my old 73E to ASG when Taylor Chapman worked there, and now I take my 964 to Taylor's own shop: Chapman Auto Werks, LLC is a Porsche repair shop located in Sterling, Virginia
