There is an article on the Rennlist about brakes and it says that the SS braided lines may need to be replaced every year. That makes no sense to me but maybe someone out there knows more about this.
Got to:http://www.rennlist.com/ under 911 SC FAQ BRAKES.http://www.rennlist.com/FAQ/index.htmWTF?????

The teflon lining wears from rubbing against the SS sheath. In time it will fail.
Problem is that you can't see the lining so you can't monitor its wear or condition. You can either wait for it to fail (Murphy says it will happen at the worst possible time) or replace as preventative maintenance before you expect it to fail. This is the very reason some people don't recommend SS lines for the street. The question is how long should you wait to replace. I believe wear is more a function of miles than time. 1 year / 10k miles seems an excessive replacement interval for a street car to me. I put 80k miles and about 10 years on a set with no problems. That is probably too long. I should think half of that would be a good change interval on the street.

I wonder if this scheduled replacement applies to the kevlar-lined SS brake hoses.
