Smile Car wouldn't start - hum, but no cranking. Solenoid tap saves the day.

Hey all -

Car wouldn't start this a.m. in the worst place possible - facing downhill and blocking the family car in the driveway.

Turned the ignition and got hum but no clicks or cranking.

Wiggled the key, locked and unlocked steering wheel, hammered away at the starter - with no success.

Read a bunch of posts - and someone clearly indicated that you tap the solenoid while turning the key.

NOTE: These cars are LOW to the ground so wiggled under the rear right tire with rocks and dirt in my back.

My wife turned the key and I gently tapped the solenoid ONCE. Started right up (and made me jump as much as I could on the ground.)

Thanks for the past posts and advice. Hope this helps someone else.
