Question 915 tranny selector shaft seal

hey guys, can I change my selector shaft seal on my 915 tranny without removing the tranny?

Sure, its easy . disconnect the shifter cover and coupler.
Jack up the car and use a pick hook to get out the old seal. put the new seal on(the right way) and gently press it in with the side of a screwdriver or wrench. then put shifte coupler back on and adjust. there is a pelican page on this wirh a 356 i think

There's a tech article on this. It's not hard. The hardest part for me was getting the old seal out.

I would not use the word "easy" to describe the old seal removal process; there is a risk of marring the relatively soft housing with the hook removal tool if one isn't careful. Once the old seal is out it is relatively straight forward. Cheers, Jim
