Valve covers in progress
More progress on the "while I'm in there..." phase of my transmission repair project.
Got my valve covers back and have done a little work on them. I think they are coming out pretty good.

What did you have them out for?

Did you have a machine shop check them for "true"?
I'm certainly getting ready to do so on a leaky VC stud....... BEST! Doyle

Big mess, one of the ears/bosses broke on the bell housing of the transmission.
![]() Since I had to drop the engine, started doing all the maintenance (seals/o-rings, sensors, valve adjustment, etc...). Since I had to remove these I figured I would also do the engine cleaning and detailing. The valve covers have been done, the engine tins (surrounds), several brackets... Still have a few other things to do or to get done. I don't plan on taking the transmission to AZ to be fixed until the beginning of the year.

I haven't, but probably a good idea. There were no problems when they were removed or problem that was the reason they were removed.

those look freaking sweet. I plan on re-doing mine eventually, and have my own ideas....but I'd really like to hear how you went about doing yours. They look really, really nice.

Thanks fellas.
I have polished the timing chain covers. They look OK, but I am really considering having those coated too. I don't know. This little clutch repair is spinning into all kinds of stuff. My wife saw some of the parts back on (just fitted) and said she liked the way it was looking. We have been together so long, she knew that was the OK ticket to continue messing with things. She believes this is my toy and hobby and as long as don't buy another streetbike (crotch rocket), then everything is good. Will post more as more items come in, get done etc...

The Valve Covers look awesome. The tranny doesn't. What's your plan on that?

I have seen other repair possibilities, but they don't seem as quality. One side benefit is since the trans has to be disassembled, everything can be inspected.

Nice job on the covers.
I did mine-semi gloss black powder coated, cleaned the name and ribs off like yours, then had them re coated in clear to protect the bare aluminum. |

I am probably going to have the clear done as well.
