Is a Carrera Oil Tank required for a 3.2 Conversion

I have a 3.2L engine in a 1975 body. The oil tank is still the 1975 oil tank. The only difference I see in the two tanks is the AAR line which I have blocked off on the throttle body. From what I can tell the AAR line is only active when the outside temperature is quite cool (something like 10 degrees C), so is there any reason to use the carerra tank?

I did see in a thread where someone mentioned that not using it would cause the car to run rich, however they didn't elaborate on the point.
