Window Tint Question

Been thinking about having my windows tinted and quite frankly Iam a little gun shy.
Could anyone post some photos of their cars tinted. Mine is Guards Red.
Thanks in advance.

I have mine tinted. Helps keep the car cool. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1344956940.jpg

Mine are tinted, but it is VERY light. If you didn't know they were tinted, you would be very hard pressed to tell. It is about the same level as the factory light tint. However, it is a ceramic composition film that is designed to block heat. The manufacturer (Llumar) claims it blocks something like 47 or 48 percent of thermal energy. And from a purely subjective point of view, it works.

I didn't want a car with dark tinted windows but wanted the benefit of blocking some heat and this succeeds on both counts. I'll post pics when I get home tonight.

OK, found a pic here on Pelican. It's difficult to tell it's tinted, but it is.

I would not recommend it. I removed the tint this spring. Did not like the look and had trouble getting the car inspected. My car does not have AC and I live in Vermonthttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1344959665.jpg

My car has a middleish tint. I wouldn't have installed it myself, but it was well-done by a PO and is actually kind of nice.

More pictures on my Window Tint thread.

A picture that shows the windshield in full sun.

Post #10 is a nice look. Not over the top as far as darkness.

I got my '87 tinted with a top-of-the-line new tint called Air Blue 80, made by Llumar. It's got a slight blue color to it (not as dramatic in person as in this photo), but it has all the heat and UV protection I wanted without changing the look too much. I did all windows, including the windshield.

IMO, these cars look great with tint.

I'm really happy with the Air Blue - it's the same stuff I have. However, despite the very light tint, I'd never use it on my windshield. The reason has nothing to do with legality, or having the window even slightly darker than stock. It is because if you wear polarized sunglasses, you can see a bit of a rainbow effect when looking through glass with this tint. It's not an issue at all with side and rear glass, but the windshield? Uhh, no thanks.

Not exactly sure what tint this is...PO had it done.

30% all around except for windshield. What a difference here in FL.

Never had that problem, and I do wear polarized sunglasses.

Did you tint the windshield with just once piece of film? Reason I ask is if I can do this for my rear targa window... My tint is now over 20 years old and while it looks great on the side windows, the rear glass looks horrible where it's faded and the tint overlap lines are obvious. I want to re-do it and the llumar looks like the tint to use.

Chuck,
Do a google search on shrinking the window tint. Results are a one piece tint, nice. I did it on my coumpany car, but I would leave a targa window to a pro.

No photo on hand but mine is in the glass when the windows were made, it is noticeable and does
look good. It was an opption. In Australia ( where I'm from) very hot and sunny. some tints work
to help keep the inside cooler, some just look good. Tint away and enjoy.
