Pelican Parts Charity Fundraising event for Down Syndrome...
It is with great enthusiasm that I am happy to announce that Pelican Parts will be hosting the 7th annual fund raising benefit for DSRTF at our location on the evening of August 25th. DSRTF is the Down Syndrome Research and Treatment Foundation - a charity that is focused on finding scientific and medical breakthroughs that reverse some of the negative effects of this genetic syndrome. As many of you know, our six-year old daughter Holly has Down Syndrome, so this particular cause is very dear to us.
The date of the event is Saturday, August 25th, from 5:30PM - 10:30PM. We're opening up Pelican Parts' racecar showroom for a rare and exclusive peek behind the scenes of some of the greatest Porsche racecars of all time. There will be food, drinks, and a silent auction with a whole lot of interesting items (several vacations are part of the lot). We'll have a brief talk from some of the doctors involved in the research. We have Brett Walkow of ClownTown.tv lined up to be our comedic Master of Ceremonies. And of course, I will be there as well to answer any and all questions about the cars. Tickets are $65 each, you can purchase them here: https://www.biddingforgood.com/auction/event/Event.action?auctionId=168860055 If you can't make it that evening, then please see if there is an item in the pre-event online auction that you wish to bid on here: http://www.biddingforgood.com/auction/item/Browse.action?auctionId=168860055 We expect this event to sell out as we get closer to the final date, so if you're interested in attending, I would recommend purchasing tickets early on. In general, it will be a really fun event - we'll have a DJ and some dancing to wrap up the night! Included in the Pelican Parts collection are: - The 1987 & 1988 Sebring winner, the Texaco Havoline / Bud Light IMSA Porsche 962. Seven first place victories - one of the most successful Porsche race cars of all time. - The last Brumos 935: the last Porsche Peter Gregg drove before his death in 1980. This 935 finished third at Sebring in 1983 and 4th at Daytona in 1984. - Kremer racing's 1987 Porsche Cup winner - the Yokohama 962. Featured on the 1987 Euro Porsche Cup factory poster. - RLR 962-106b - winner of the Norisring and Kyalami in 1987 - the Liqui-Moly car. - Champion Porsche-powered 2000 Lola B2K/10: 4th at Daytona, 2nd at Daytona 3hr, driven by Hurley Haywood, Bob Wollek - Schuppan's carbon-tubbed 962-138. One of the first all-carbon fiber chassis to be raced. Finished 15th at Le Mans in 1989 In addition, you get to see the vast collection of European automobilia (mostly Porsche) that I've been collecting over the past decade or so. Reminder: we also have an pre-event online auction that is running live prior to the event. Wayne,
How about setting up an account so that those of us who can't be there can at least contribute to the cause. Gotta help the cuties. Paypal or something else. |
