SC/Turbo - need ideas on wiring rear fuel pump

Some of you guys out there have done this so please share.

Putting a '78 3.3Turbo engine in my '78SC. I've got a stock rear 930 fuel pump to run with the stock SC front pump. Would like some plumbing ideas.
Seperate relays?
Where do you physically run the wire?
Where do you mount the pump?
How have you run the fuel lines?

Rich? Bill?

Thanks guys.

Hi
I got a factory manual and wired it like the factory did. I put the second relay next to the stock relay in the spare hole up front. I also put another relay in the engine compartment for the overboost protection. I made a mount for the fuel pump that sortof puts it in the location that the factory did. I had to run 1 wire the length of the car for the fuel pump. It took me 2 weeks of nights to figure out the wiring. Not my specilty (nor is spelling).

Thanks for the reply Dean.
Can you be more specific about WHERE you ran the wiring? It's gotta go a loooong way from the front relay to the engine bay.
Do you have any pictures?

Porsche Crest Wiring

So, the fuse box is on the port side, on the shock tower, right? I would run the wiring back behind the heater, and through one of the rubber grommets, under the dash, then over behind the pedal cluster, into the hole at the forward end of the tunnel. Inside the tunnel there are three bundles of stuff: the throttle and clutch on the port side, the fuel lines on the port side (in their own mini-tunnel) and the electrical bundle on the starboard side. So along the starboard side is where you want to run the wire- I would straighten out a coat hanger and push it back through the tunnel. It may help to remove the shifter but if you can get it back without doing that it's better. Remove the plate that covers the shifter coupling, and once you have the wire back there, push it through the grommet at the rear of the tunnel. Then you can pull it either way- left or right- to get it up to the engine compartment.

Good luck!

Hey, the 930 pumps were mounted under the car in rear, the C2T's were mounted in the engine compartment in front of your oil filter location. Thats where I put mine. There is a pin powered from the fuel pump relay in your 14 pin connector in the back, so just have to run the wires a few feet. Here is a crappy photo of a real C2T, but you get the idea. All the clamps and covers are available from the dealer for @ $15 bucks or so.

Thanks guys for the info and pic.
I was thinking that it would be a lot easier to use a relay in the engine compartment vs the trunk. I have to see if one is available. My (SC) harness is 6-pin, the '78 930 harness is also 6-pin.

6 pin? Are you referring to the relay? The engine harness connector that goes from the engine to the rear electrical plate (near the voltage regulator) should be a 14 pin connector.

Yes, that connecter is a 14 pin. The 6 pin I was typing about plugs into the CDI (doh!)

Don't suppose you know off hand which pin # powers the fuel pump relay? I look it up. Thanks for the info, sure is a time saver.

There ought to be a site for 911 turbo transplants, looks like there are quite a few of us.
