Parking

What do you do to protect your car when you park?

I park at the far end of supermarket carparks to avoid housewives and shopping trolleys. I use magnetic rubbing strips to protect doors from dings and I try to park next to cars that look well looked after in the hope that their owners take a little extra care when passing near mine. I try and pick safe spots evan if it means walking a bit further. I try and park so I can drive straight off without having to reverse on to the road.

Ah yes, another 924 meets with fate somewhere in eastern Europe.

Greetings from the Western world Milu!

Greetings Victor.

Sorry to mislead, but I'm not in the East, I'm in Europe, east of Eden and West of the sun! Just thought the image was appropriate to parking problems with Porsches.

I just try to park near other nice cars. Cars that look like they have owners who care.

I gave up trying to park far away, etc. It just doesn't work around here. Someone in a piece of $^%# will purposely park close. I think there is a law in Oklahoma that says people aren't allowed to have nice things.

I am mad as hell the last week or so when thinking about parking!

Some SOB parked right next to me and opened the door on their tank (frigging SUV or pick up truck) and put a dent the size of a fist on my left rear fender!

Gonna part even futher away from anyone from now on! Of course they did not leave a name...

Joe

Phoenix is rough on cars! When we moved here we had a '96 Neon that didn't have a scratch. Within a few months of our arrival it had dings all over. We were shocked! That's why we keep a real beater for the airport and errands.

Another thing to watch out for is shopping carts. When it's 110 out, nobody wants to drag their cart to the corral. They just dump them and run. I've seen people lay a cart against the car in the next parking space. This is extra annoying during the monsoon season when a 30-50 mph afternoon wind whips up and carrys the unattended cart across the lot and into your door.
