Call your local fire department, city gummint, or waste disposal facility.
|
you can't put all 4 gallons on the camp fire at once! well you could but you had better run fast! I always remember CHristmas vacation movie with Randy Quaid dumping the waste line on the RV into the sewer drain. classic! this thread reminds me of that.

In NY we have a hazardous waste site to drop it off at. Call your county office and ask. Also in NY if they sell oil or gas, they are required to accept old oil or gas.
|
I'll call you later ... I found a local place that took mine.

I keep a five gallon can for my generator which I don't need. So, I run the generator for a few minutes once a month. The old gas goes into my weed wacker, leaf blower and lawn mower. They always start and run on one year old gas. I have "Stabil" but haven't used it yet.
Just put it in a Jerry Can and use it up as needed with your gardening requirements. |
How bad is it? I've had so many people say their lawnmower/car/boat/whatever wouldn't run because of 'bad gas', but it's never happened to me.
Aside from having water in it I don't know why you wouldn't add a gallon at a time to your car. |
The best and most economical option. Get a funnel and put some cheese cloth in it, then filter it into a jerry can. Pour slowly, and leave the last little bit with chunks of crap and water in the first container. Add some fresh gas or stabil and your good to go. Let the empty container outside, open in the shade far from dry leaves or straw and the rest will evaporate.

All this reminds me of a friend who ran an excavating company in Seattle. Without fail, about three times a week they would show up on the job site to find someone had hopped the fence or barricade, and made off with their diesel and gas cans. It took about a week and a half, but after they started putting diesel in the gas can, and gas in the diesel can the theft stopped. Not sure how this could apply to your situation... And as others here say, "your mileage may vary"!

I give it to my yard guy. I dilute it with fresh gas first.
|
Plenty of destitute university students who would be more than happy for a free fill. They drive old cars and generally don't care about longevity - as long as they can get from A>B
Agree with the lawnmower option. As long as there's no water in it , it will run. |
I put it in my DD; the 1969 Rover sedan.. Along with old Coleman fuel, 2-stroke fuel from the dirt bikes etc etc... pretty much anything that is combustible, that car will burn without a hic-up..
|
I drained out the old gas from a car sitting in the garage for 16 years. I ran it in my carburated 82 Lancruiser with no problem.
|
I use it in my Land Rover Series. I'll put about four gallons in the take and add fresh gas.
Old Land rovers run on almost anything. Kevin |
I posted "free gas" on Craigslist. 10 gallons of 8 year old gas gone in less than an hour, the guy had an large yard and was going to use it in his mower. Mixed with some new gas, I'm sure it was just fine.
