2.7 cylinders to 3.2 conversion

I'd like to know if it's possible to put 3.2 cylinders on a 2.7 engine?77 911.

No. Not enough material on the case, if you bore it to 65mm, to support the larger cylinders.

The largest recommended increase on a 2.7 L engine is to replace the 90mm cyl.s with 93mm cyl.s giving you 2.9 L with the same crank. I belive these use the same size spigot as the 90mm cyl.s so as not to overstress the case. You could also stroke the engine to give you more displacement but when you add all this up with the need for a larger oil cooler and case reconditioning you are spending way more on an old mag case than you would for a 3.6 transplant.
The cheapest HP increases for you 2.7 is a change in the exhaust to the earlier style tuned exhaust. That's good for atleast another 10HP. The cylinders on 3.2 motors are 95mm. The same as the 3.0 motor. The 3.2 got it's increase from stroking. So 95mm on your motor would give you 3.0 liters and over bored spigots. Not good. There are 98mm cyl.s that would give you 3.2 L but you would have the same problem. Bobby |
The head stud spacing is different. 80 mm on the 2.7 and 83 mm, as I recall, on the 3.0.....even a BFH wouldn't help.
