Angry New targa latching problem

OK I have found a "new" problem with why my targa top isn't latching properly.

On the car itself (not the top) where the latches catch the metal is marred. By this I mean that it has been chewed up. It is not rusty or anything. This is causing it so the latches can't catch, therefore not holding the top down snug. The latches are more or less just catching the metal trim piece

Ok so now I am wondering if this has happened to anyone else, also is it possible to just weld in a reinforcement plate???

That is what I think I will have done.

Ideas, solutions??

Thanks

Shawn

PS My top never did seal well, but I would like it as best as possible!

BUMP

Nobody knows about this?

Is it advisable to weld there?

Are you sure its the latches maybe you just need the clips that hold down the top to the frame. Also the latches are adjustable to make the top tighter to the car. The latches can also be worn out at the end hook and not catching. I would look into all of these questions before i would do any welding.

Shawn, check with the Porshe dealer. Most offer a 10% discount if you are a member of a club or if your a sweet talker. You would be surprised at how inexpensive these pieces are from the dealer. I have been pricing out replacement gaskets, seals, mounts, latches etc... and all have been less expensive than buying from the US (considerably) EG: motor/tranny mount 20.34 ea CDN, Bumper bellows 38.34 ea CDN, headlight seal ring 6.58 CDN, a latch for my hard targa top(different than yours) 51.73 CDN so you see it really makes sense to check with Porsche for repair parts before you look elsewhere.
