'S' hose cutted need advice abbout oil cooler
Hi,
When I drove last my car a 911SC Targa Euro 78 and came home I saw suddenly a huge amount of oil on the floor in my garage, lucky there was just a little bit on the road. From what I could see the S hose was cut. Now I did remove the S hose and I have doubts that I have the original cooler on my SC there for I need some advice, do i need to install another cooler or ... bought this car 9 years ago, and two years ago the S hose was replaced. Some pictures say more than words : http://users.telenet.be/jos.aerts/S%20hose.jpg http://users.telenet.be/jos.aerts/oil%20cooler.jpg |

To me, that looks like an original cooler with an aftermarket hose...

Buy a good hose, not a 'URO', don't use Permatex.

If you have a 78 SC, from your second pic, you do not have the correct oil cooler. That is an early oil cooler 71 or earlier. SC oil cooler does not have the threaded fitting. Maybe the reason for the sealant is that the fit is not correct and there was leakage. Also, follow the advice above and DO NOT buy the cheap S hose.

Oh, and if it were me, I would install the correct cooler. If the S hose comes off you will lose a lot of oil quickly. Your early cooler, if pressure tested, has value. Good used coolers are available.

![]() ![]() I would be happy to make up an adpter pipe to properly connect a S hose to your early cooler with a threaded fitting like this............... ![]() However, it would be much better to buy a correct 911 slip-on type cooler as used with 72 and later models like this one............... ![]() Tom1394racing has used ones that are cleaned & pressure tested and guaranteed good and at a fair price. Look him up and get a correct cooler for your motor. Then you can buy the original "S" rubber slip-on hose from Porsche directly or our host. Don't buy a aftermarket product from China, they are junk. Buy only an original. Len ![]() |
